The rule of three are 3 things to remember when training your dog something new at home.
3 Minutes – It is important to practice games or tricks for around three minutes. This can easily be done during TV breaks, waiting for the kettle to boil or whilst you’re waiting for the microwave to stop.
3 Attempts – You should always attempt a behaviour or trick a maximum of three times. If your dog is struggling to understand the behaviour, it is best to stop the training and come back later to it. This avoids frustration on your dog’s behalf.
3 Sessions – It is always helpful to try and practice a behaviour or trick at least 3 times a day.
